Benefits of Seeing Green: Nature's Miracle Colour.

The Benefits of Seeing Green

Studies about our exposure to colours and shown some surprising facts about nature and the colour green. Did you know that simply looking at the colour green can make you happier, healthier and more creative!

There’s a reason why a walk through the forest feels like a reset button. The colour green, found in leaves, moss, seaweed, and endless landscapes does more than please the eye. Science shows that green restores, revives, and heals both body and mind.

Our mission is to connect people back with nature, and we believe that when you care for your skin, you'll be more eager to go play outside. When we were deciding on what colour to make our brand hero, naturally green was chosen for it's connection to sea algae. But, as we researched more, we discovered that there was a lot more to the colour than meets the eye.

Green Sparks Creativity

Studies have shown that even a brief glimpse of green can spark creativity. In one experiment, participants exposed to green performed better on creative tasks compared to those who saw other colors (Lichtenfeld et al., 2012). It’s as if green opens a little door in the brain, inviting new ideas and inspiration. Next time you’re feeling stuck, step outside, find a patch of trees, or even bring a plant onto your desk, you might just feel the difference.

Green Calms Stress and Anxiety

It’s no accident that spas, wellness spaces, and even hospital recovery rooms often feature green tones. Research confirms that green environments help reduce stress, lower anxiety, and restore emotional balance. In one study, people in green-colored rooms reported significantly less stress compared to those in red or white rooms (Mehta & Zhu, 2009). Another analysis highlights that even short exposure to natural greenery supports relaxation and lowers cortisol levels (Ulrich et al., 1991).

Green Restores Focus

Modern life demands constant attention, but our brains aren’t wired for endless scrolling and multitasking. Enter Attention Restoration Theory (ART): the idea that natural environments gently restore our ability to focus. The soft, effortless fascination of greenery, like watching leaves sway or waves roll, gives the brain space to recharge. The result? Sharper focus, better productivity, and a calmer mind (Kaplan, 1995).

Green Boosts Mood and Wellbeing

Spending time in nature, whether in forests, by the ocean, or simply in a city park, has been linked to higher levels of dopamine and serotonin, our feel-good chemicals. A meta-analysis found that “green exercise” (physical activity in natural environments) significantly improves mood and self-esteem (Weir, 2025). People living near green and blue spaces even tend to experience better overall health and longer lives (Gascon et al., 2016). The message is clear: being around nature doesn’t just feel good, it is good for you.
